Description

The astounding array of historical artifacts, religious art and antiques collected by the wealthy Catalan sculptor, traveller and obsessive collector, Frederic Marès i Deulovol (1893–1991), can now be found inside a vast medieval complex that was once part of the royal palace of the counts of Barcelona. This sprawling building also served as the seat of the Spanish Inquisition in Barcelona, and its presence is still evident today in the rather worn coat of arms on the walls. Thanks to Marès' generosity, this priceless collection of curios is now open for all to appreciate and explore.
