A glacially cool museum

Sometimes a gallery building can be just as impressive a work of art as its contents and this is certainly true of the MACBA (Museu d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona) in the Raval area. Designed by Richard Meier, the gallery looks like an iceberg dropped into the centre of Barcelona.

A crowd of art students and skateboarders congregate in the neighbouring Plaça dels Àngels. Inside there's no permanent collection but the museum stages regular exhibitions of painting, sculpture, photography and installations.
