Description

The Museu d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona (MACBA), opened in 1995, has become Barcelona's most distinguished contemporary art center. Designed by renowned American architect Richard Meier, its glistening white, glass-fronted exterior makes it a stunning sight to behold. Inside, the permanent collection features modern Spanish and Catalan art from the latter half of the 20th century, with works by Antoni Tàpies, Joan Brossa, Miquel Barceló, and Joan Rabascall. International greats such as Paul Klee, Bruce Nauman, Alexander Calder, John Cage and Jean-Michel Basquiat also have their works displayed in the museum. In addition to its permanent collection, the MACBA houses captivating exhibitions for the serious art lover.
