As the sole museum devoted to Egyptology, the Museu Egipci de Barcelona is largely supplemented by the personal collection of museum founder Jordi Clos. Owner of the Hotel Claris, Clos offers more than 250 pieces including sarcophagi, jewelry, and hieroglyphics.
Exibits in the Museu Egipci de Barcelona also include sculptures and other forms of hartwork. Much of the ancient art displays Egyptians in their everyday tasks and culture, depicting aspects of education, customs, food and worship. Housing its own lab for restorations, the Museu Egipci de Barcelona also offers more than 3,000 works open to the public.
