Description
Museums of Geology and Zoology
The two museums come with a package deal, viewable on the same ticket. The more popular of the two is the Museu de Zoologia, inside an amusing building designed by modernize architect Lluis Domenech i Montaner. Originally a café for the 1887-8 World’s Fair, the museum is truly part of Barcelona’s history.
The building razed for the Museu de Ciencies has its own claim to fame as the first to be created specifically for a museum, holding the largest geology collection in all of Spain. The museum’s left wing holds granits, quartzes and naturally radioactive rocks. For cultural perspective, visit the Museu de Ciencies’ right wing, with 1950s illustrations of prehistoric life.
