Description

Founded in 1327, the peaceful convent of Barcelona is now a museum, dedicated to the preservation of monastic life. While the few remaining nuns have moved to more modern neighbouring buildings, the site still stands in the same residential area that was once rural countryside, now a tranquil corner of Barcelona. One of the most striking features of the convent is its three-storey cloister, a magnificent example of Catalan Gothic architecture, built in the early 14th century. The church, too, is a fine illustration of Catalan Gothic design.
