Brick arch built for the 1888 Universal Exposition.
The Arc de Triomf, situated at the end of a wide promenade, served as the 1888 Universal Exposition’s main entrance. The exposition took place at the Parc de la Ciutadella. With an artistic façade, the creativity instilled in the arch can be seen when viewing the arch up close.
Built with colorful brickwork in mudéjar style, this monument was designed by architect Josep Vilaseca, and stands out from other well-known arches. At the top of the brick monument there are several friezes. The main façade, overlooking Paseo San Juan, contains the "Barcelona Welcomes the Nations" sculpture by Joseph Reynés, another on the rear façade with a sculpture called "Reward" by Joseph Lemon.
