Description

The Arc de Triomf in Barcelona, located at the north-western edge of Parc de la Ciutadella, was originally designed by Josep Vilaseca as the primary entrance to the 1888 Barcelona Universal Exposition. The arch is an example of Modernista architecture and features unique Mudéjar-style brickwork in an earthy red color. The main reliefs were sculpted by Josep Llimona. Although the exposition ended up being a financial failure, the arch stands as a testament to the city's optimistic spirit of the era.
