Description

Located just behind the vibrant Mercat de La Boqueria, the historic Antic Hospital de la Santa Creu stands as a reminder of the city's past. Originally founded in 1401, the hospital was once heralded as one of the best in Europe and remained in operation until the 1930s. It's notoriety was solidified when renowned Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí died within its walls in 1926. Today, this Gothic landmark houses the Biblioteca de Catalunya and the Institut d’Estudis Catalans, as well as La Capella, the former chapel which today hosts a rotating collection of art exhibitions.
