Description

For centuries, Barcelona's town hall has served as the seat of power. The Consell de Cent, the city’s ruling council, held its first meeting here back in the 14th century. Since then, the building has gone through various changes; the original Gothic entrance on Carrer de la Ciutat is all that remains from the old days. The main 19th-century neoclassical facade is an unimpressive contrast to the Palau de la Generalitat across the street, but its interior is worth a look. Guided tours in Catalan, Spanish and English, lasting one hour, take place on Sundays without needing to book beforehand.
