Description
A Penedès wine tour from Barcelona takes you out into the Catalan countryside, where cava is made by the traditional method. A local guide leads the day, and the transfer from your hotel to the cellars and back is part of it.
The first stop is a biodynamic winery run by the ninth generation of a winemaking family. A guided visit shows how cava is made, and afterwards you taste three wines with snacks.
The second winery is where you sit down to lunch with a view over the estate: Catalan sausage, cheese, bread and a Spanish omelette, paired with three wines. The last cellar is for long-aged cavas, a rosé and a white, tasted with chocolate and Catalan biscuits while Marta, the fifth generation of another family business, talks you through them.
