Description
On this Park Güell guided tour you meet your guide at the entrance and go straight in, so the queue stays behind you. The visit lasts about 55 minutes, and the guide tells how a hillside above Barcelona was meant to become a private estate for the city's elite in the early 1900s.
The route passes the places that make the park famous:
- The dragon staircase and El Drac, the salamander covered in Trencadís mosaic
- The Hypostyle Room, where tall columns look like a stone forest
- The Terrace of the Mediterranean, with views where the city meets the sea
Along the way the guide explains what inspired Gaudí, from Roman and Gothic to Moorish influences, while you follow on an audio system with headsets. Afterwards you can stay and explore at your own pace, or walk up to the hilltops for wider views.
