Description
A Montserrat private tour from Barcelona takes you out of the city by car, with a local guide at your side, to a monastery set among jagged mountains. The day lasts about five and a half hours, and the road itself already offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
You first look at the monastery's architecture from outside, then walk to the local farmers market, where you can sample some of the region's cheeses. A stroll around Santa Maria Square follows, before you go inside the Basilica to see La Moreneta, the Black Madonna. Tickets are part of the tour. If you would like to hear the children's choir, ask your guide ahead of time: it depends on availability and carries an extra charge.
The last stretch is a relaxed hike through the mountains to the San Miguel Viewpoint, with wide views over the valley, and then the ride back to Barcelona.
- Private version: hotel pick-up and drop-off in the Barcelona area
- Semi-private version: a small group of up to 8 people, with a meeting point sent after booking
- Basilica and La Moreneta tickets included
Lunch is not included, but if you want a meal the guide can point you to a convenient buffet. The tour is family-friendly. In busy periods queues can form, and access to La Moreneta may change on short notice; the rest of the visit goes ahead as planned.
